What is HBT?
Ans: HBT or Hydro Based Technology is the latest and a mature technology
which SRL has been using since its inception. This technology has water
as a solvent to suspend phosphor which is used as a special coating for
the Fluorescent Tube Lamps. It is more environmental friendly as compared
to the use of chemicals like Xylene or Butyl Acetate. This technology
also maintains consistent light and higher lumen output.
Q2. What
is Ribbon Glass Technology?
Ans: The Ribbon Glass Technology is a highly sophisticated technology
for high speed manufacturing of glass shells for bulbs. The chief feature
of this technology is that molten glass flows in a straight line rather
than a rotary path as with alternative blowing machine. This technology,
imported from M/s Dema Glass, Chesterfield, U.K., the world pioneer in
glass production has a speed of producing 1000 pieces of shells per minute.

is the company's financial strength?
Ans: Surya has been increasing its volume of sales by 15 to 20
per cent every year. Today, this company is worth Rs. 776.88 crore (approximately
USD 181 million). Net profits for the year 1998-1999 stood at RS 14.17
(approximately USD 3.2 million).

Ans: Surya produces almost 10 million GLS lamps every month. Its
plants have the capacity to produce more than 11 million bulbs. The company
manufactures 3 million FTLs every month.
