Roshni gross profit up 31 per cent

Surya Roshni Ltd has posted a 31.63 per cent increase in its gross profit. The profit went up to Rs 11.57 crore during the first quarter of fiscal 1999-2000, from Rs 8.79 per cent in the corresponding quarter last year. The net profit jumped 7.17 per cent at Rs 3.44 crore as compared to Rs 3.21 crore in the quarter April 1 - June 1, 1998-99. This was announced at the board of directors' meeting. The total sales was up Rs 171.34 crore as compared to Rs 157.26 crore, the previous year.
The board of directors also considered the annual accounts for the year for the year 1998-99, which amounts to a total turnover of Rs 718.51 crore and a 17.01 per cent increase in its net profit which was Rs 12.93 crore, as pr the audited financial results , against Rs 11.05 crore in the financial year 1998-99. Surya Roshni has now declared a hike at 12 per cent in its annual dividend to its shareholders. This was also decided in the board of directors' meeting. Last year the dividend declared was 10 per cent.
