Discharge lamps comprise both low pressure and high pressure versions and are found in various applications where energy saving and longer life is important. The lamp characteristics depend on the lamp type on which it can be selected for various applications. Among these CFLs are the recently developed lamps for the fluorescent family with triband phosphor coating, which offer excellent lighting solutions, saving up to 80 per cent energy compared to their equivalent GLS lamps. They have an average life of upto 8000 hours.
